Gum Disease Linked To Cancer

Here’s another reason to keep your teeth and gums healthy: Along with heart disease, researchers at Brown have found that the gum infections may increase your risk of pancreatic cancer.

Experts estimate that at least half of all Americans suffer from gum disease. And as scientists investigate this widespread condition, they are finding it may be linked to a wide variety of serious illness, including diabetes and cardiovascular problems.

The researchers at Brown examined the gum health of more than 800 people in their study. Other research has shown that gum disease may also be linked to colorectal cancer.
