Hydrochloric Acid: God’s Natural Antiseptic

Pharmaceutical companies persuade the public to buy antacids for what their advertising calls “over-acid stomach.”

There has never been an over-acid stomach with natural acid. All the “heartburn” and “acid indigestion” symptoms are created because of low stomach acid, which causes incomplete digestion.

Incomplete digestion allows fermentation to take place. That produces the organic acids of fermentation resulting in gas and reflux. The body makes only one acid: hydrochloric acid with pepsin. Other acids that produce symptoms of acid reflux come from the fermentation process; they are entirely different from the natural stomach acid that originates in the stomach.

Different Compounds

The fermentation process comes from undigested food caused by a lack of — or lowstomach acid. Antacids don’t know the difference between natural stomach hydrochloric acid and organic acids of fermentation from undigested food. They attack all acids. This is why there can be only temporary relief. As long as stomach acid is low or insufficient, the digestive process is incomplete and fermentation continues.

We are suppressing the all-important digestive process with antacids. The only solution is to build stomach acid with betaine hydrochloride by supplement with each meal. (Ask your doctor to test your stomach-acid level.)

Just how important is it to have sufficient natural hydrochloric stomach acid? The answer is something no doctor will ever tell you because most don’t know.

Adequate hydrochloric acid in the stomach or induced into the tissues by mouth, vein or muscle acts chiefly in clearing out the poisonous waste acids created by insufficient digestion and fermentation.

Hydrochloric stomach acid increases the elimination of carbon dioxide (CO2), decreases to normal the pH reaction and desensitizes the tissues to disease proteins.

An Essential Presence

Natural stomach hydrochloric acid stimulates phagocytes. Its presence is essential to all glandular and cellular activity.

Hydrochloric acid (HCl) intravenously injected will significantly raise the oxygen content of the blood. HCl stimulates all the forces of resistance.

Adequate stomach acid stops all the fermentation and putrefactive (rot) processes. Antacids increase the alkalinity, fermentation and putrefaction. This sets the stage for malnutrition because of incomplete digestion and consequent failure of assimilation must occur. Adequate HCl sterilizes the whole body system, even to the natural purging of parasites.

Antacids compound the destruction of natural stomach HCl, making way for a septic process of the tissues and organs. Pyorrhea, symptoms of indigestion, nephritis, appendicitis, abscesses, pneumonia, etc., begin to appear. Deficiency of normal acid leads to stagnation of organs like the gall bladder and the pancreas, causing diabetes and gallstones, and leads the way to all forms of degenerative disease.

Man’s Best Friend

Normal HCl is nature’s true antiseptic, which is clearly demonstrated in the difference between HCl in a dog and a man. Normal gastric juice is far stronger in dogs. Unlike humans, a healthy dog can eat septic meat and if its stomach is opened 30 minutes later, the foul, odorous meat will be found sterile. This shows the power of HCl in the process of digestion and health.

With sufficient and normal HCl, all waste acids along with fermentation disappear. It follows that all “heartburn” and gastritis are symptoms of low HCl, not high acid as the pharmaceutical sales pitches claim.

When antacids are taken, the contents of the stomach become alkaline. This masks the symptoms of the fermentation process but at the same time the putrefactive processes are present in the stomach. Excess alkalinity promotes putrefaction and tends to diminish HCl. HCl deficiency is a large factor in the etiology of degenerative disease.

The crime of alkalizing the stomach runs deeper. The epidemic of cancer may be directly related. But the antacid people have a ruse called confusion of cause and effect. This is only one more example of the system, which we call benevolent totalitarianism, manipulating the people against their best interest with sales propaganda.

Misguided Campaigns

Now they have a new “health” campaign to take salt out of our diet. This further diminishes the antiseptic value of the chlorine in salt for the process of normal digestion.

Dr. David Brownstein says in his book Salt, Your Way To Health: “It is impossible to have an optimal functioning immune system when there is a salt-deficient state present… a low-salt diet has been associated with a greater than 400 percent increase in risk of myocardial infarction (heart attack) in men.”

Think how chemically close ocean salt water is to human blood. Both strive for stasis. The ocean is always clean no matter how many animals, etc., die within it. This is due to its chlorine content from sodium chloride and also to the chlorides of magnesium, calcium and other minerals. The chlorine is invaluable to health and longevity to human and sea life.

When I go to the ocean, I always bring back 2 gallons of sea water. I take at least 1 tablespoon per day. I learned this from Dr. Royal Lee’s lectures.

Mild cases of “heartburn” can also be aided by a daily regimen of apple cider vinegar, which stimulates natural production of HCl in the stomach. Take 1 tablespoon in 8 ounces of water. Honey can be added to help make the taste more palatable.

I have just bought an Alkalising water jug because it appears that our bodies are generally too acid and this provides the ideal environment for cancer to thrive. Will it also mess with the HCL in my stomach?

Pardon???? Can’t read your reply – just gobbledegook!

Sorry, Caroline. I don’t remember posting anything. I do remember posting a google search that was rather confusing. In good health.

    • Scott says:

Alkalizing water has two ingredients to make it alkalize the bloodstream, ultimately, which are electrolytes, and minerals. HCl should increase the body’s alkalinity, ultimately, by the time its effects reach the bloodstream, because of its cleansing effects on the whole body. Water is extremely important to digestion, and improves HCl secretion and function in the stomach. You might want to add a little lemon or lime juice to the water to help its alkalinizing functions even more.

Thank you for this very useful information. No wonder why people ruin their health unknowingly. Great work. Please keep it up.

While I agree some may function from low acid, there are those in need of the acid lowering medications due to GERD caused by a week lower sphincter muscle in the esophagus. With acid constantly leaking into the esophagus, boils and scarring occur in the esophagus, as well as thickening of the skin at the base of the larynx, and may also cause asthma as the fluid will leak into the lungs. HCL introduced into the lungs is never a good thing.

While there is no easy cure for a weakened lower esophageal sphincter, exercise can strengthen the muscle enough to reduce the leaking, and may eventually cure the problem.

I for one am thankful these medicines exist, as my risk of esophageal cancer or Barret’s Esophagus is greatly reduced. As for the claims of malnutrition and poor digestion, there are numerous digestive enzymes which aid in the proper breakdown of foods, and supplements, such as magnesium and calcium, that will help eliminate the lack of these valuable minerals.

I’ve been on Dexilant and Zantac 150 for 5 years now. My blood serum levels are completely normal, and if progress continues, I should be reduced to only one product in another year, and possibly off all meds in two years.

While this article is correct in the value of HCL, check with your doctor before you follow this information. Get scoped, see an ENT specialist. To stop taking your meds because you assume your acid is low could cost you your life.

  5. Disgisted says:

HOW, in the UNIVERSE is anyone to know what the right thing is to do for our bodies, our health when I read an article like this, then comments like these. Yes do, no don’t, yes do, no don’t, yes do, no don’t, ad nauseum. It’s enough to give you ulcers and keep you in an agitated state, which causes extreme stress, which some of these articles say will kill you.

Now THAT, I can believe is so because I feel so much stress. It just tells me that none of you know what you’re talking about.

    • MrCleanOhio says:

Research, research, research is how you learn. If your going to different sites looking for a magical answer to all your problems, good luck. They don’t exsist!

Not every cure or treatment works for every person. Every person has different needs. Why do you think there are so many variations of similar medicines when they all attack the same problem. If you have issues, research and try different things to find what works.

Before acusing everyone of being ignorant, stop and think about what you’re saying. You do sound stressed.

  6. Don R. Shaw, Jr. says:

Just wondering, would “Wine Vinegar” work as well as the “Apple Cider” variety? I admit to finishing off what’s left after salad, if I happen to be home and alone.

  7. Dave says:

I am ~65 and have consumed large quantities of salt all my life. I never have stomach problems and I’ve been sick so few times in the last 25 years that I could easily count them on one hand.

  8. chris says:

I was dignosed with a duodenal ulcer at age 19 and sufferd for 20 years with all sorts of medicine “to reduce acid levels”. It was only when 2 western australian researchers, after years of battling the medical authorities, got the recognition that helibactor pylori was the major cause pf these kinds of ulcers. I went and got tested, got put on a course of heavy duty antibiotics, and have not had even an antacid, never mind Zantac for over a decade. Just keep in mind that the medical mafia are only after profits. Most drugs do not cure only relieve symptoms because thats how they are devised. GORD , which I never even heard of when I had my ulcer, has become a major advertising campaign here in western australia over the last couple of years and when it first came on TV I could not help but cringe becuase it brought back all the memories of the pain I suffered through the b”best” years of my life.

Great article and has got me thinking.I will have to look into it more.

  9. Steve says:

I suffered with digestive disturbances for years. Undigested food produced embarrassing gas and a feeling of fulness for years.I tried everything. Was even diagnosed with IBS. Probiotics helped a bit and even eating gluten free helped somewhat but since I started taking betaine hydrochloride tablets along with ULTIMATE DIGESTION FORMULA by Dr Michael Cutler my stomach issues have subsided in the first week.WOW! Never knew that low stomach acid was my problem. Thanks!

  10. Zal says:

    this sentence has my attention:

“The chlorine is invaluable to health and longevity to human and sea life.”

is it the same BAD GUY CHLORINE in tap water, or is it a different natural chlorine in sea water ?

    could anybody clarify this ?

    • Scott says:

When chlorine molecules bind to hydrogen molecules, a different substance is created completely. Chlorine is a toxic substance which is used to ‘blast’ water clean, with toxicity, so it’s also an indicator of poor water quality, if that is what they have to use to make the water sanitary.

  11. Bob Boyce says:

For relief of acid stomach I take a big fork full of sauerkraut. I read that the enzyme that changes cabbage re balances the acid in the stomach. What ever the mechanism it has been successful for me for years.

  12. This is all very good information. When I got sick at the start of the year I had horrorable acid indigestion, getting well eating nutrition and using Coconut Oil seemed to calm the stomach down. I tried Vinegar, lemon, etc. Eating fermented food helped. I wrote about coconut oil on my blog site. My Thyroid was also very low in Iodine. Increasing Iodine seemed to help the most. But that is my particular problem. Over the counter antacids are dangerous and a major money maker for Big Pharma.

And What do you do with Coconut Oil?

DA, Use it as you would with any other oil, cooking, over steamed veggies, baking, I also use it in my morning coffee,on your skin, also as a personal lubricant, with NO side effects..I’ve been using coconut oil for the past 11yrs. internally and externally and it REALLY works for overall good health. the coconut man@healthoptions101@frontiernet.net

  13. Zal says:

“…The chlorine is invaluable to health and longevity to human and sea life…”

we know that chlorine in water is BAD.BAD.BAD.
So, this sentence at the end of the article, attracted my attention. I hope that is not the same chlorine that is in the tap water.
Could Bob or anybody explain please ?
    Thanks

  14. Lynn says:

All of these comments sound good but as was noted, not everyone reacts the same way. For myself, I have suffered from severe acid reflux for a number of years and have been taking Nexium once a day, I should be taking it twice a day but do not like taking prescription drugs. To show you how bad I have this, just drinking water and I drink bottled water, will get the acid coming up my throat. Have tried eating an apple which helps some but I would have to eat 3 or 4 of them in order to control it. I like apples but not to the point where I can eat that many. Would any of the above comments help me?

the level of outrage i have for the keen wits at the ama, nat.sci. acad. et. al. has sent me looking for elctro-convulsive treatment. my personal medical history is replete with truly mind boggling treatment regimes. Now They at a “prestigious clinic” in cleveland oh.,have prescribed Nexium to my 24 yr. old son for a chronic heartburn. now, i would think that some simple analytics would be employed. something other than sodium/potassium..cbc. No, at the dept. meeting they were told how, and what to prescribe. they can not have a really good doctor ruining it for the rest! what if your neighbor saw a diff doc at the same clinic for the same malady who did something wonderful, Can’t have that happening! Think about all the phone calls they’d get about peggy sue’s doctor!! Outrageous! this is what happens!
