Researchers Claim Red Meat Kills

In the past, studies have found an association between eating red meat and an increased risk of a variety of health problems, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease (CVD) and certain cancers. Recently, researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health found that red meat consumption may not only increase a person’s chances of developing one of these conditions, but dying of them as well.

“We found that a higher intake of red meat was associated with a significantly elevated risk of total, CVD and cancer mortality, and this association was observed for unprocessed and processed red meat, with a relatively greater risk for processed red meat,” said the authors of the study.

The researchers explained that daily consumption of meat increased mortality by 20 percent.

It´s depressing to see how you treat info like this.
Let for ex. A. Colpo and Zoe debunk this!
I can give you more serious info as well if you like.

Unfortunately, this research does not make the distinction between grass-fed and factory farm animals. Factory farm animals are stuffed with antibiotics and hormons and feed on corn and soy and other unnatural food, this makes their meat dangerious wheras grass-fed animals have complete nutritional value.

Your comments are absolutely right on the money. Speaking of money… I wonder who funded this “research”?

Support for the study was provided by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the National Cancer Institute.

It’s not the meat that’s causing the problems it’s the stinking additives like sodium nitrates, hormones and other crap they put in meat that’s doing it.

But of course I expect the stupid medical community to overlook something that simple because they’re in the business in treating not curing problems.

The meat industry is a much easier target than Big Sugar and Big Food. These refined carb products are responsible for far more cases of heart disease and inflammation-driven diseases than red meat. But you’ll never see a research study linking sugar and refined carbs to heart disease and cancer receiving this much publicity. These two lobbies are far too powerful.

I agree with the previous comments regarding the strong posibility that the poor quality of feedlot beef is the real culprit here. (Just follow last week’s news story about the digusting filler called “pink slime” that’s being added to ground hamburger and fed to our kids in school lunch programs. Perfectly fine with the USDA and FDA.

Hmmm, I can´t see my comment here from earlier today…I was just giving facts, links and how bad science those claims are…

This is done with CAFE meat and I would have to agree a person should use as little as necessary. We raise 100 % grass fed beef. This is healthy meat, the kind we are suppose to eat. It is really unfortunate when someone makes a statement like this and doesn’t have … or… give the full story. You may hurt the health of others who take this advice literally.

Man is a omnivour and needs meat to live a healthy life but when the meat is intentionally tainted with hormones, antibiotics, steroids and many other chemicals that are approved by the FDA and the USDA then it is cause for alarm.

This “Pink Slime” that we’ve been reading about lately is laced with ammonia so next time you go to the grocery store pick up a bottle of ammonia and don’t even read the label simply look for the skull and cross bones which means it is poison. Of course the FDA and USDA will say that the amount of it in our meats won’t kill us but they do not say what it will do for us except perhaps kill bacteria that is naturally found in livestock but bacteria is not a poison and our bodies build a resistance to bacteria but it will not ever be imune to poisons especially man made poisons.

Buying organic foods at supermarkets are an expensive alternative but what is money when it coes to our health and life? A less expensive alternative to organic supermarkets is to buy your meats and produce at farmers markets that sell meats and produce grown by the Amish, they use no man made fertilizers, steroids, antibiotics or pink slime just to name a few toxins.

If organic meats do cause us harm or death, which I doubt, then I will have a 3 pound prime rib and die with a big grin on my face.
