Vitamins And Minerals That Fight Cancer

vitamins-and-minerals-that-fight-cancer_300The argument continues about the usefulness of vitamins and mineral supplements to fight cancer. A lab test in Saudi Arabia weighs in on the benefits: In this study, a combination of vitamins and minerals has been shown potentially to lower the risk of colon cancer by 84 percent.

The test demonstrated that regular multivitamin and mineral supplements apparently banished tumors and drastically cut back on the formation of precancerous lesions.

“It has been unclear whether multivitamin supplementation to cancer patients is helpful, has no effect, or is even detrimental during therapy,” says Dr. Grant Pierce, editor of the Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, where the study was published. “This study is important because it gives some direction to cancer patients in desperate need of guidance on the value of multivitamins and minerals administered during cancer.”

The researchers conclude that “multivitamin and mineral supplements synergistically contribute to the cancer chemopreventative potential, and hence, regular supplements of multivitamins and minerals could reduce the risk of colon cancer.”
