You can’t lose weight and be healthy without eating a diet full of fruits and vegetables. Most experts also point out that exercise, too, is necessary for your physiology to function properly. But in the quest for slimness, research on a natural extract indicates it can speed the elimination of inches off your waistline.
A study of the effects of green (unroasted) coffee bean extract found that it helped people lose about 10 percent of their body weight in about five months.
“Based on our results, taking multiple capsules of green coffee extract a day — while eating a low-fat, healthful diet and exercising regularly — appears to be a safe, effective, inexpensive way to lose weight,” says researcher Joe Vinson.
The 16 people in the experiment at the University of Scranton lost 17 pounds on average. That represented an average loss of 10.5 percent of their body weight.
Vinson thinks that green coffee beans help speed weight loss because they contain a compound called chlorogenic acid.
