The Food That Makes You Lazy

A lot of us drink coffee and other caffeinated drinks first thing in the morning to get our get-up-and-go up and going. But researchers have found that if you eat the wrong food with those beverages, those items on your plate can sap your motivation and personal energy.

The foods to avoid: junk food like donuts, pastries and sweetened cereal.

In lab tests, scientists at UCLA have found that sugary, processed food can not only lead to weight gain, but can make you lazy, too.

So if you want to keep your motivation high and stay aggressive in a competitive working environment, you’re better off eating the kinds of foods for breakfast that fit the paleo diet: fruits, vegetables, organic meat, fish and nuts. Stay off of the chips, cookies and packaged sweet cereals.

As the researchers conclude: “Behavioral traits comorbid with obesity, such as depression and fatigue, may be effects of obesity rather than contributing causes. To the degree that refined foods contribute to obesity, as demonstrated in our study, they may play a significant contributing role to other behavioral and cognitive disorders.”
