How to conquer the two worst kinds of pain

Chronic pain has become a national epidemic in this country. If you suffer from it, you know how much it costs you in doctor visits, lost time, being able to work and especially the negative effects it can have on relationships and quality of life.

The most common chronic pain is lower back pain. My colleague and friend Mark Wiley, Ph.D., OMD, and a doctor of Chinese medicine and alternative health, says back pain is what he sees most in his practice.

Chronic back pain is dangerous for your whole body. Did you know back pain can shrink your brain by up to 11 percent? That’s the equivalent of aging your brain by up to 20 years. You lose brain cells in the thalamus and prefrontal cortex because these cells are hyperactive for so long under the stress of pain that they eventually break down and die. These brain changes may also cause patients to become less responsive to pain treatment.

Dr. Wiley says a close second to back pain is arthritis. Of all arthritis patients, 38 percent are considered disabled. That’s debilitating indeed.

Dr. Wiley recommends a clean diet in order to remove the triggers for pain, including:

  • Healing through liquid cleansing: A liquid cleanse can help detoxify your body, heal your cells and quiet down your immune system.
  • Eat your food as close to raw as possible: Compared to refined products, complex carbohydrates enter the blood stream slowly, helping keep your blood sugar stable.
  • Eliminate refined products: Refined foods can incite a quick and excessive release of insulin from your liver. This can cause unwanted fat storage in your body. Refined foods also promote over-acidity, which is linked to osteoporosis and arthritis.

Studies prove the relationship between a healthy diet and lower inflammation. At Wayne State University, patients with rheumatoid arthritis were fed a plant-based, dairy-free diet and the majority achieved complete remission of symptoms. However, when animal foods or refined products were reintroduced into their diets, every single one of the subjects relapsed.

I have so much respect for Dr. Wiley and his advice because he is one of us. He became disillusioned with standard medicine’s failure to help his own chronic pain and went about researching and becoming a healer himself. His studies and years of practice have led him to become one of the leading authorities in the field of healing pain.

Dr. Wiley has such a wealth of healing experience and advice for those in pain that he has written a book titled “Conquering the Pain.” It contains a wealth of information to help you conquer pain without drugs. Get your copy today.
