The foods that destroy your sense of smell

It’s no secret that the typical American diet can make you gain weight. But Florida State researchers have discovered a new danger. A group of those foods may harm your sense of smell.

Lab tests show that greasy fast foods like French fries or oily burgers can affect your olfactory nerves and limit your ability to sense odors.

In the experiment, the scientists found that a diet rich in fatty junk food can cut your sense of smell by 50 percent or more.

The researchers are now investigating whether exercise could slow this destruction of the sense of smell. Plus, they are taking a look at how sugar influences the same processes.
