Irritable Bowel And Leaky Gut Wreak Health Havoc

Some 60 million to 70 million people suffer from diagnosable digestive problems. Combine this with the estimated number of undiagnosed digestive problems, and you see we have an epidemic that far surpasses the fake swine flu epidemic foisted upon us a couple of years ago by the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In fact, some 234,000 people die from gastrointestinal problems each year, about 14 million are hospitalized with non-fatal GI conditions and another 1.9 million become disabled due to GI problems. Many of these problems are caused by leaks in the intestinal tract, a condition known as a “leaky gut.”

Natural Barrier

The cells in the lining of the intestine form a natural barrier that, when functioning properly, allows only properly digested fats, proteins and starches to pass through into the bloodstream.

But these cells can become damaged by inflammation caused by a poor diet, prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, stress and myriad other reasons. The damage causes tears, pockets and holes to form in the lining, which allows unwanted and improperly digested particles to seep into the bloodstream.

Once these particles get into the bloodstream, the body’s immune system views them as “foreign invaders” because they don’t belong in the blood. Antibodies then activate to fight off the invasion. These antibodies can cause further damage to the intestinal lining.

As the damage grows worse, the lining becomes weaker and the holes become larger, allowing even larger substances to pass through into the body. These larger substances can be bacteria, undigested food and toxins.

When this begins to occur, the body reacts by producing more antibodies and cytokines, which signal white blood cells to fight the invaders. This fight produces oxidants which cause irritation and inflammation throughout the body.

Health Issues

Inflammation in the body causes a host of health issues. In addition to gastrointestinal problems like irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, intestinal disturbances and rumblings, diarrhea, and upset stomach, it can also lead to allergies, cardiovascular difficulties, joint soreness, autoimmune diseases, eczema or skin rashes and low energy levels, and other health problems.

Big Pharma, of course, has created many drugs to address the symptoms. Not surprisingly, they are interested in sickness care, not in wellness.

One of the world’s foremost natural healing doctors, Chris D. Meletis, N.D., N.M.D., spent years researching digestive health in search of a natural means of fortifying the digestive tract. He finally found a combination of nine nutrients that specifically target the lining of the digestive tract and have provided sufferers with relief from irritable bowel, leaky gut, constipation, diarrhea and other GI disorders.

Dr. Melitis’ formula combines L-glutamine, deglycyrrizinated licorice (DLG), N-acetyl glucosamine, marshmallow root, berberine sulfate, cabbage powder, slippery elm, phosphatidylcholine and gamma oryzanol. The nutrients work together to fortify the intestinal lining, repel and resist bacteria, coat and sooth irritation and tears, attack microbes and harmful bacteria, nourish cell tissues, stimulate helpful mucus creation, and balance gastric juice levels.

A healthy digestive system is crucial to proper nutrition and to reducing inflammation in the body. Without a properly functioning gastrointestinal tract, most of the nutritional supplements and healthy foods you eat are wasted.

Dr. Meletis’ formula is called Advanced GI Tract Solution™ and is available from Health Resources™ here or call 800-471-4007.
