Safer ways to get your groceries during the COVID-19 pandemic

Meal kit delivery services

Meal kit delivery services

Meal kit delivery services had become very popular long before the threat of COVID-19. Blue Apron and Hello Fresh are examples of these.

The pros. These kits contain recipes and all the ingredients to make them. They range from vegetarian (Purple Carrot) to budget- and family-friendly (EveryPlate). Most have servings choices to feed from 2 to 6 people

The cons. These are dinner meal kits, so you won’t get anything except what’s needed for the given recipes. Reliability and quality may vary from service to service.

And they are not cheap. You can expect to pay anywhere from $7 to $12 per serving, and shipping.

If you have your groceries delivered, remember to:

  • Select “leave at my door” delivery when ordering, in order to avoid interacting with a delivery person.
  • Prepare for the possibility of delays with delivery.
