What’s The Ugliest Part Of Your Body?

When researchers asked middle-aged women how they felt about their bodies, they were disturbed by the replies.

A study at the University of North Carolina of women aged 50 and older finds that only about one in eight are satisfied with their body size. And virtually no one is completely happy with every aspect of her appearance.

Dissatisfaction with unsightly parts of the body included:

  • Skin: Named by 78.8 percent of the women as being unacceptable.
  • Stomach: 56.2 percent of the women complained about their stomachs.
  • Face: 53.8 percent of the women found fault with their own faces.

Says researcher Cristin Runfola: “Of course the fact that so few women are satisfied with their body size is concerning. But we were interested in how some women remain happy with their size and shape, given ubiquitous social pressures to retain a youthful thin appearance, and the influence of a multibillion dollar antiaging cosmetics industry.”

The research also showed that women who exercise tend to be more satisfied with their body size.
