Your Job May Be Giving You Asthma

your-job-may-be-giving-you-asthma_imageAsthma has become a huge health problem, afflicting 15 million Americans and costing about $60 billion in medical expenses nationally. Being overweight increases your risk. Plus, research in England shows your job may increase your chances of this problematic condition.

According to the researchers, you run the biggest risk of workplace-related asthma if your job involves cleaning and cleaning agents. In particular, jobs that increase the likelihood of asthma include working on a farm (quadruples your risk), as a hairdresser (triples your risk) or in printing (doubles your risk).

Asthma kills more than 5,500 people a year in the U.S.
