5 things you need to know about drug interactions with cannabinoids

Warfarin and Clobazam should not be combined with cannabinoids

5. Dangerous side effects

Two drugs, in particular, Warfarin and Clobazam, should not be combined with cannabinoids.

Warfarin is an anticoagulant (blood thinner). It reduces the formation of blood clots in veins and arteries, which reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack.

Cannabis is also a natural blood thinner. If the two are taken together, the risk of bleeding goes way up.

Clobazam, an anti-seizure drug, is a benzodiazepine, a class of drugs with risks of its own, including cognitive impairment, drowsiness, confusion, depression, vision problems, and impaired coordination.

When combined with cannabinoids, these side effects can become even stronger and can reach dangerous and life-changing levels.
