8 common habits that could shorten your life

Woman drinking water

6. Not staying hydrated

We’re not talking about drinking fruit juice or sports drinks here. We’re talking about plain old water. Sometimes you may think you’re hungry when you’re actually thirsty.

But don’t depend on your thirst to tell you when you should drink. If you’re chronically dehydrated, the body may simply adjust and stop sending those thirst signals. You may not feel as thirsty as you should.

Water regulates body temperature and protects your brain and spinal cord. It also allows your cells to grow and reproduce. If they don’t, you’re at risk of premature aging.
