Sweetest hair treatment cures dandruff
Do you suffer from dry, itchy, flaky scalp?
Have you been suckered in by those commercials on T.V. that make you believe using their dandruff shampoo is not only like a day at the spa — but it will give you the gorgeous, silky, flake-free hair you’ve been wishing for?
Then you probably know from experience that they can leave your hair feeling gross, smell terrible and come with side effects (especially the prescription ones you get from your doctor), like severe itching, burning, or irritation, oily or dry scalp, hair loss, redness, pain, or oozing of treated areas, or even eye redness, swelling or irritation.
And even the store bought versions contain potentially toxic chemical — for example, coal tar carries a level 10 hazard warning from the Environmental Working Group (the highest possible).
Fortunately, there is a more natural solution and it’s even been proven in scientific studies to alleviate dandruff and stop the flaking.
No more scaling, itching or hair loss
Honey has antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidants activities and has high nutrient value. It’s been shown to be effective for everything from wound healing to stopping a nagging cough.
And, now you can even use the sweet treat to beat your dandruff…
A study reported in the European Journal of Medical Research discovered that applying honey to areas affected by dandruff not only stops the flaking, it keeps it away.
The researchers studied 30 patients with chronic seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp, face and front of their chests. The patients suffered from scaling, itching and hair loss.
They were asked to apply diluted crude honey (90% honey diluted in warm water) every other day on the lesions and gently rub it in for 2-3 minutes.
The honey was left on for 3 hours before gentle rinsing with warm water. This treatment was continued for 4 weeks.
And the results were incredible.
For every patient, their itching was relieved and scaling disappeared within one week and their dandruff had completely disappeared in just two weeks!
In addition, patients showed subjective improvement in hair loss.
And, for patients that continued to use the honey treatment once a week, not one started experiencing flaking again. On the other hand, of the patients that stopped using the honey, 80% suffered a relapse of their dandruff symptoms within two to four months.
Using honey for your dandruff
To use honey to treat your dandruff, first wet your hair and apply diluted raw honey (90% honey and 10% water). Massage the honey into your scalp for 2-3 minutes and let sit for three hours – you can use the time to watch a show, read or clean the house. Rinse with lukewarm water.
For shiny hair, try following the honey mixture with 1/4 cup vinegar and 3/4 cup water. Repeat every other day for about two weeks and then once a week to keep dandruff at bay.
Stop living with the itching, irritation and embarrassment of dandruff and don’t settle for applying toxic shampoos to the sensitive skin of your scalp, use honey instead and beat your dandruff naturally.
