5 ways to get the health benefits of CBD oil
When you hear the word cannabis, it’s likely that things like joints and special brownies come to mind. But, the fact is that the products derived from hemp offer some very real health benefits, without the high you get from the THC in marijuana.
In fact, the cannabinoids such as cannabidiol (CBD) you find in cannabis have been extensively studied by medical researchers over the past decade.
It’s been shown to:
- Calm anxiety
- Improve sleep
- Decrease pain
- Lower inflammation
- Reduce seizures
But, that’s not all…
As my colleague, Jenny Smiechowski reported, Israeli researchers even discovered CBD’s power to fight diabetes.
And, when it comes to cancer, cannabinoids have been shown to alleviate far more than just symptoms but actually:
- Stop cancer cells from dividing and invading normal tissue
- Block blood supply to tumors
- Enhance the body’s immune response to prevent the growth and spread of tumors
CBD can even help people with Lyme’s disease decrease their symptoms and live a better life.
But, for most of us, even though cannabis is becoming more mainstream, it’s still a mystery when it comes to how to use it in order to get the most benefits possible.
So, here are the five easiest ways to use CBD and what conditions each works best for…
1. CBD Vape-Oil
You may have heard the term vaping. Essentially it’s using an e-cigarette or similar device to inhale an aerosol. And, it’s the fastest way to get those cannabinoids into your bloodstream.
This makes it the perfect delivery method for people with conditions that cause symptoms to come on suddenly, such as anxiety, since inhaling CBD can take effect within minutes.
Now, vaping is controversial, and studies are indicating it can be as dangerous as smoking cigarettes. So be sure to steer clear of flavors or additives in your oils. Diacetyl, a flavoring chemical linked to cases of severe respiratory disease, was found in more than 75% of flavored electronic cigarettes and refill liquids tested by researchers at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. They have also been found to contain cancer-causing chemicals, such as formaldehyde.
2. CBD Oil Tincture
However, if you’re not into the idea of vaping – and many people aren’t since studies on the long-term consequences of the practice don’t have firm answers, you do have other options.
The first is to use a tincture of CBD oil which can be purchased at varying levels of concentration. Most often these tinctures are taken sublingually but you can even apply them to your skin.
This is the method of choice for people who want to lower their health risks while still getting all of the benefits of CBD.
3. Edibles
Okay, here’s where those special brownies do come in, or gummies, lollipops, and chocolate. Basically, you can buy food products that already have CBD in them or make your own using CBD-rich hemp flower.
The great thing about this method is that the effects may last longer as the edible passes through your digestive system, providing all-day relief. It’s also a good choice for those suffering from sleep problems who want to avoid the side effects of prescription medication.
4. Creams
Since CBD has been shown to be effective in alleviating pain, it makes sense that rubbing it on could provide relief and that’s where CBD creams come in.
It’s good for localized pain and may even provide help for certain skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and rosacea.
5. Concentrates
If you don’t experience relief from using the other options, try a CBD concentrate. They can be up to 99 percent pure CBD which can be taken orally, vaped or even rubbed onto your skin.
CBD can deliver numerous benefits when it comes to your health. If you’re ready to give it a try, pick the method that suits you best, keep track of changes in your symptoms and be willing to go with a different option if your first choice doesn’t offer the results you’re looking for.
