7 jobs only your liver can do (and how to help it)

assorted vitamin pills

#2 It makes vitamins work

The liver makes a “juice” called bile that breaks down vitamins so they can do their job. Bile also breaks down fats. Bile is stored in the gall bladder until it is needed.

Vitamins A, D, and B12 as well as iron are stored in the liver until your body needs them. The liver also breaks down other vitamins into forms your body can actually use. If it didn’t do this, then all those vitamins you take would be useless.
