Cherry angioma

3. Cherry angioma

These most commonly appear on the chest, abdomen or back. They are small, bright red raised dots (thus the name “cherry”), and are harmless, but could bleed if scratched.

An abnormal concentration of blood vessels is responsible for their cherry red color. Because increased numbers have been reported to appear during pregnancy, there is believed to be a hormonal connection.

These tend to remain very small, but a doctor can remove a cherry angioma with a laser if they become troublesome or if you find them unattractive.
