8 common habits that could shorten your life

Excessive sitting affects life expectancy

1. Too much sitting

Almost a decade ago, researchers already knew that a sedentary lifestyle shortens your life.

One study showed that if you can sit for less than three hours per day, and limit your TV viewing to less than two hours a day, you will have added almost 2.5 years to your life expectancy.

That’s the difference between living to be 80 and only living to be 77.

A sedentary lifestyle is linked to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers.

Fortunately, there are ways you can add physical activity to your day, even if you sit at a desk all day.
