The collagen supplement that gets results in just 12 weeks
This morning when I looked in the mirror, I couldn’t help noticing all of the new fine lines and wrinkles that have shown up on my face in just the past year. In fact, now that I’m in my mid-40s the pace at which my skin ages seems to be accelerating on an exponential basis.
Yet, even though I would love to look younger and have smooth, wrinkle-free skin, I also don’t want to head off to one of those fancy medical spas and have a doctor inject toxins to freeze my wrinkles or syringes of fillers to plump my skin.
So, what’s the answer?
Am I stuck with lines, wrinkles, and sagging that steadily gets worse or is there a better way?
Luckily, a new study has the answer and it’s all-natural — no doctors or injections necessary.
The signs of aging start with collagen loss
The study, published in Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine set out to discover whether a popular skin health supplement, known as BioCell Collagen®, could actually work to produce real, measurable changes.
The supplement, taken in either powdered or pill form, is made using a naturally occurring matrix of hydrolyzed collagen type II, chondroitin sulfate and hyaluronic acid. The theory behind it is that the mix will slow and reverse the collagen loss that’s associated with all of those signs of aging we hate.

Collagen is a protein central to the elasticity and regeneration of our skin. It’s responsible for keeping skin firm, plump, smooth and young-looking. After the age of 20, our natural production of collagen reduces by one percent each year.
In this research, 128 women between the ages of 39 and 59 were into two groups. One group took the 500 mg of the collagen supplement twice daily, while the other was given a placebo for a period of 12 weeks.
And, according to the researchers, BioCell Collagen won hands down.
Throughout the study, participants’ skin was visually graded monthly to determine the intervention’s efficacy, measurements of facial lines and wrinkles, definition of crow’s feet lines and wrinkles, level of skin texture and smoothness, and skin tone.
Here are the results BioCell Collagen delivered:
- Increased skin collagen content by 12 percent
- Significantly reduced facial lines and wrinkles
- Reduced the width of crow’s feet and wrinkles compared to placebo
- Improved skin elasticity compared to placebo
Yup, just 12 weeks of taking the collagen supplement enhanced collagen levels and elasticity and improved the look of fine lines, wrinkles, and crow’s feet.
Not bad for something that could also help your joints move easier!
As Alexander Schauss, Ph.D., a co-author of the study, puts it, “This landmark research is especially encouraging for women who are seeking safe and effective options for meeting their skin health and appearance goals, including those who are considering or already using cosmetic procedures to address skin aging.”
In other words, why put yourself through a dangerous cosmetic procedure or injection when you could take a safe supplement that works?
And, BioCell Collagen® is easy to find. It’s not only available as a stand-alone product, but is also used as an ingredient in numerous skincare and joint supplement brands. So, all you have to do is pick the one that’s right for you and take it daily.
Now, I haven’t tried it yet, but with results this promising to back it up, you can bet I plan to!
Editor’s note: Are you feeling unusually tired? You may think this is normal aging, but the problem could be your master hormone. When it’s not working, your risk of age-related diseases skyrockets.
