Every day, you’re exposed to chemicals. They’re in your home, yard, work, food, clothes… the list goes on and on. Well, it turns out that some of these chemicals could be contributing to osteoarthritis…

A 2013 study found that two common chemicals, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS), are associated with a higher risk of osteoarthritis in women. These chemicals are in stain resistant carpets and fabrics, nonstick cookware, water repellant clothing, paper plates, paper and cardboard packaging, food wrappers, shampoo, nail polish, dental floss, and fish.

So basically, everybody is exposed to them. And if you consider the fact, that these chemicals didn’t become a pervasive part of everyday life until after World War II, they seem especially suspicious.
