Ancient Hua Shan exercises for sexual health

The ancient Chinese Daoists had a grasp of something extraordinary.

Centuries before the “scientific method,” they had developed detailed and complex methods of exercise, martial arts, diet, restoring health, preparing herbal medicines and understanding human energy systems.

Among these insights into the human body were systems of enhancing sexual health, potency and libido. In today’s video article Tai Chi master Herb Borkland will introduce the rarely-seen ancient Chinese Hua Shan exercise for improving vitality and optimizing sexual health.

In all, there are 10 Hua Shan exercises, each with several parts to them. Here we will introduce the first exercise, “Restoring Spring,” which has 3 distinct parts to it. Part and parcel with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory is a tie-in with numerology, and so the repetitions for each set are specific and should be followed.

Indeed, TCM teaches us that when we are at our sexual peak, our body’s health is optimized as well. As such, Hua Shan exercises are designed to renew and strengthen sexual functions in women and men, which at once also strengthen overall health and feelings of wellness and vitality. Below are brief explanations of each of the three parts of Restoring Spring. Please refer to the video for detail.

Peak Golden Oil

Part 1 – Sitting and Standing

Begin with your feet about shoulders’ width apart. Stand and be comfortable, loosen your mind, be young. We are going to sit on our heels. Now take a deep breath and come up tall on our heels. As you exhale sink back down to the sitting position. Repeat this up/down movement 16 times.

Once you have completed the 16 repetitions, hold your breath for as long as is comfortable.

Part 2 – Whole Body Oscillation

Then bring your feet slightly closer together and we are going to jiggle. Not a wiggle, but a spring jiggle that moves everything inside and out of us in an invigorating way. Do this for a full minute—about 164 oscillations.

Part 3 – Alternating Shoulder Rolls

When you’ve completed the oscillations, the last part of the first Hua Shan exercise is “Rolling Shoulders.” Your left shoulder goes first, and roll it forward. Notice the right shoulder goes back naturally. Then roll the right shoulder forward, wherein the left goes back naturally. As before, you will do a total of 16 repetitions of the left/right shoulder roll.

By the very nature of the Restoring Spring exercise, this set of three exercises alone will improve your blood flow, relax the body and help invigorate your libido. As with all Doaist exercises of this type, 100 days without missing, is a good start.
