5. Why is poop so gross?
Almost everyone is grossed out by poop. That’s part of the reason we don’t talk about it (and as a result, don’t know much about it). But there’s a very good reason why the thought (let alone sight or smell) of poop makes your stomach turn.
Evolution.
Poop carries bacteria, parasites and other pathogens that can make you sick. If you saw poop and thought, “No big deal” you might be tempted to touch it or spend more time around it. But since poop triggers your gag reflex, you’re not likely to spend any extra time around poop if you can help it.
