Cottage cheese: 3 big benefits of this old-school superfood

2. Improve your mood and creativity

Cottage cheese contains an amino acid called tyrosine, which increases the production of dopamine in your brain. As a quick reminder, dopamine is a feel-good chemical that controls your brain’s pleasure and reward centers. It impacts your mood for the better, but it also impacts your ability to think creatively.

A 2014 study, for example, found that people who drank orange juice laced with tyrosine before completing puzzles that required creative thinking were better at brainstorming and deep thinking than people who just had plain old orange juice. And, as an added bonus, tyrosine was shown in another study to give you faster reflexes. So keep eating that cottage cheese to stay creative, quick-moving and happy.
