In fact, a 2014 study showed that eating a lot of fermented dairy products (like cottage cheese) reduces your risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 28 percent.

Researchers don’t know exactly why that’s the case, but it may have something to do with their probiotic content, since probiotics have been shown to reduce blood sugar levels in other studies.
