Dodge diabetes with this amazing vitamin
Type 2 Diabetes is officially a global epidemic. And cause of this epidemic is no secret: People are not eating well and exercising less and less.
So, in theory, the solution should be simple — eat right and exercise often, right?
But don’t feel bad about living up to that expectation… real life is not setup to promote optimum health.
If you’re like most people, you work long hours at a sedentary job and then go to restaurants and grocery stores where healthy food options are few and far between. These and other factors can make losing weight and fighting diabetes an uphill battle.
Fortunately, there is another solution you can turn to in your quest to conquer the big D.
It’s a naturally occurring vitamin that not only lowers blood sugar levels but prevents some of the most undesirable diabetes side effects, like peripheral nerve damage and fatty liver disease.
And this vitamin has been shown to have amazing anti-aging properties to boot.
The vitamin is nicotinamide riboside (NR), and it’s a form of B3.
Researchers from the University of Iowa and the Iowa City VA Health Care System found that mice with prediabetes and type 2 diabetes who were fed a high fat diet but were also given nicotinamide riboside had lower blood sugar levels and were less likely to gain weight, develop peripheral nerve damage and develop a fatty liver or liver damage than mice who hadn’t been given the vitamin.
Basically, nicotinamide riboside gave their metabolic health a much-needed boost…and it can probably do the same for you…
Researchers suspect NR’s metabolic powers come from its role as a precursor to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (nad+), an enzyme that your cells need to create energy and to complete various metabolic processes.
Essentially, when you give your body nicotinamide riboside (NR,) it makes nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (nad+), which it uses to regulate its energy and metabolism. So by giving your body more nicotinamide riboside (NR), you allow it perform these functions more efficiently.
And you reap the benefits every day in how your body feels. You have more energy and a better metabolism. You also don’t have to deal with blood sugar spikes, nerve damage in your feet, blurred vision or any of the other uncomfortable and downright scary symptoms of diabetes.
You already get trace amounts of nicotinamide riboside in drinks like beer and milk, but if you want to experience its therapeutic benefits on your metabolism, you’re going to have to up your intake through supplements. The recommended dosage for most NR supplements is 250 mg per day. So if you’re ready to get your metabolic health back on track, getting some nicotinamide riboside should be your number one priority. It’s currently available online and in some health food stores.
