The four best foods for erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a frustrating problem for many couples. Many men over 40 may experience it from time to time due to many factors, such as stress, psychological problems, declining testosterone levels, and other medical reasons.

If you have been noticing that your erectile function is not what it used to be, it may be time to look at natural treatments for ED. One natural way to treat ED is through diet and eating some of the foods I recommend below, which are some of the four best foods to eat for better sexual health.

These foods can boost your testosterone levels and nitric oxide levels, resulting in better erectile function without exposing you to the dangers of erectile dysfunction drugs.

1. You can’t beat beets for erectile dysfunction

Beetroot is one of the best foods to help men with ED. Beetroot works in a similar way to the popular ED drug Viagra. Viagra increases nitric oxide levels, which dilates blood vessels and increases blood flow to the penis (erections require good blood flow).

Beets are naturally high in nitrates, which are converted to nitrites in your mouth when you eat them. The stomach converts the nitrates to nitric oxide, which dilates blood vessels and blood flow, similar to Viagra’s action.

Some other vegetables are also high in nitrates such as carrots, radishes, celery, lettuce and turnip greens. But beetroot has the highest level of nitrates of all the vegetables.

Even if you find that beets help improve your symptoms, it may get old eating them daily. And they are messy, tedious vegetables to prepare.

If you like the effect of beets but you prefer not to eat them all the time, or at least, get them in a much easier way, you might be a good candidate for taking a daily beetroot supplement or a powdered beetroot mix you can add to your favorite juice or water.

Many athletes use beetroot to naturally — and legally — enhance their performance as well. In fact, it’s been reported that up to 90 percent of Olympic athletes used beet juice to get a performance edge.

2. Watermelon

Watermelon is a great summer fruit and is also high in the amino acid L-citrulline. When you consume L-citrulline, your body converts it to the amino acid arginine, which helps boost testosterone and better sexual health. Arginine is helpful for men with ED because it improves the effect nitric oxide has in helping with erections.

Watermelon is also high in lycopene, a phytonutrient, and carotenoid that naturally helps blood vessels relax and increase blood flow to the penis.

3. Cooked tomatoes

Tomatoes, like watermelon, are also high in lycopene, which is best absorbed from food. Lycopene improves blood flow. (If you notice a pattern here, it reflects the fact that good blood flow helps with healthy sex.)

Guava and apricots are other good sources of lycopene, but processed tomato products remain the best sources. Just try to avoid canned tomatoes. The cans are lined with bisphenol-A (BPA), an anti-androgen that blocks the normal action of testosterone in the body and has been shown to increase the risk of prostate cancer and reduced fertility in men.

4. Sow your wild oats

Oats may not seem like exciting or sexual foods, but they can help with ED as well. Oatmeal, like watermelon, contains arginine. Wild oats, Avena sativa, can also help enhance erectile function. Studies have shown that Avena sativa helps free the bound testosterone in the blood, making testosterone more active.

Avena sativa is a mild sexual enhancer that has been found to work well with stronger herbs such as Tribulis terristris.

Peak Organic Femented Beets

It may not be a household word, but nitric oxide has been recognized in over 130,000 published scientific papers as a vital signaling molecule that keeps blood vessels healthy and blood pressure in the healthy range. But as you age, your cells produce less and… MORE⟩⟩

What’s causing your ED?

While eating foods that naturally enhance your sexual health is pretty safe, you should make sure to tell your doctor if you are experiencing changes in your sexual health, such as erectile dysfunction. There could be other medical problems causing your symptoms…

Many men are not aware that one of the early signs of heart trouble is erectile dysfunction. Other factors that can cause ED are diabetes, obesity, anxiety, depression, stress, smoking, and excessive drinking. Certain medications can cause ED as well.

If you have ruled out heart problems, medication side effects, and other health issues, you should have your free testosterone checked. Declining testosterone levels can cause low libido and ED. If your testosterone is lower than normal, eating foods to help with erectile dysfunction along with trying other ways to increase testosterone naturally can help you to boost your testosterone levels and sexual performance.
