Ginger tea: soothes the tummy, protects the heart

For cramps or nausea, it’s hard to beat a warm, fragrant cup of ginger tea. And research has shown that, while you’re soothing your stomach, you’ll be protecting your heart as well.

A study conducted at Babol University of Medical Sciences in Iran found that ginger was able to significantly reduce LDL cholesterol and raise HDL levels, compared to a placebo. An animal study also showed that ginger was almost as effective as the cholesterol medication atorvastatin in improving cholesterol levels.

You can make ginger tea by pouring boiling water over grated ginger and letting it steep for 5-10 minutes or so.
