The cancer-preventive effects of this polyphenol have been studied for the past three decades.
EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-gallate) is commonly known for its high concentration in green tea, and is a primary healing compound in ancient Chinese medicine.
Although we don’t yet completely understand the mechanism at work, EGCG is believed to block tumor growth in cancers of the prostate, bladder, intestines, liver, pancreas, lungs and mouth.
The most recent discovery is that EGCG binds to a cancer-causing protein called 67LR and both prevents angiogenesis and supports the destruction of cancer cells.
