The supplement that could stop staph infections
Staphylococcus aureus (better known as “staph”) is one scary bacteria strain…
It causes life-threatening infections that don’t respond to the strongest antibiotics. But do you know the scariest thing about staph?
You probably have it in your body right now. Most of us do. It hangs around in your gut or your nose and waits for an opportunity to run rampant.
You see, when you’re healthy, staph can’t do much to you. But when your immune system is compromised, or you have an injury, staph bacteria seize the chance to colonize your body and make you sick.
So, the less staph bacteria lurking around in your body the better. But how do you get rid of these potentially dangerous bacteria?
Fend them off with the almighty supplement that’s so good for so many things— the probiotic.
Bacillus bacteria battle staph
Two recent studies from scientists at the National Institutes of Health, Mahidol University and Rajamangala University of Technology in Thailand found that Bacillus bacteria (the stuff found in many popular probiotics) can potentially banish staph bacteria from the body.
In the first study, National Institutes of Health researchers accidently stumbled upon the discovery that Bacillus bacteria kept staph bacteria from growing in the gut and nose of healthy people. Then, researchers from Mahidol University and Rajamangala University of Technology decided to dive into this discovery even further…
They examined fecal samples from 200 volunteers in rural Thailand. And they found that people who had the bacteria strain Bacillus subtilis in their stool didn’t have staph bacteria in their stool. Pretty amazing, huh? But they took it one step further…
They wanted to test their findings in mice too. So, they purposely infected the guts of mice with staph bacteria. Then they fed these mice spores from Bacillus subtilis. They gave them their probiotic treatment every two days, and it eliminated the staph bacteria from their guts.
Just think…
All this evidence could mean that probiotics are the key to preventing a dangerous infection that kills 20,000 people per year in the U.S. alone. Talk about a powerful supplement!
Take a preventative probiotic
So, the math here is simple…
Less staph bacteria in your gut means less chance you’ll develop a deadly antibiotic-resistant staph infection in the future. So, why not be proactive and start taking your probiotics now?
You’ll obviously want to look for one that contains that staph-eradicating Bacillus subtilis strain. Lucky enough, there are plenty to choose from. Bacillus subtilis is one of the most popular probiotic strains. And after reading about what it does to deadly staph, is it any wonder why?
