Using essential oils to breathe easy

Can you feel it? In many places, the weather is just starting to change.

With this comes jumps from hot to warm to cold weather (and back again a few times!) as Mother Nature decides what comes next.

Many of us get congested sinuses, sinus headaches, congested chests and colds during these months. And viruses and allergens are spreading, too.

In today’s video, Kellie Bach will show you how to make an easy essential oil blend to help relieve symptoms of cold, congestion and even sinus pressure. It’s fun and easy to make. Let’s have a look.

What you need

Small glass vials with roller tops for application. Kellie got a box of 40 online for about $10. If you don’t have this, you can make due with another container. Some basic sticker labels also help to ensure you know what is in the vials once you make them.

You will need a carrier oil to start with, like argon oil or sweet almond oil.

Fill your vial container about 90 to 95% capacity with the carrier oil. Since the vials are generally small, you can use a long dropper or small funnel to help with that.

For the essential oil blend, Kellie suggests using 2 drops of:

  • Rosemary Oil

Plus equal parts, about 5 drops each, of:

  • Peppermint Oil
  • Lemon Oil
  • Eucalyptus Oil

If you are concerned with strength, you can begin with fewer drops of each essential oil. You can test it out and then see if you’d like to add more. Adding is easy; removing is not.

How to apply

If you have a cold or chest congestion, it is best to roll the oil on your chest at night. If you don’t have a roll-on vial you can dab it on.

If you have a sinus headache or stuffed sinuses, you can apply some to your temples and sinus areas. Be sure NOT to get any in your eyes, so please be careful.

So go ahead and have fun making up a batch of Breathe Easy essential oil blend. It will help with those uncomfortable breathing and congestion issues — and they make great gifts!
