The fruit that rivals prescription anti-inflammatory drugs

Diseases are like dominoes…

You get one disease, and it triggers a chain reaction that causes others.

Just think about it for a second…

If you have an autoimmune disease, you’re more likely to get cancer. If you have diabetes, you’re more likely to get heart disease. If you have heart disease, you’re more likely to get dementia. The list goes on and on.

Why are chronic diseases connected?

The answer is inflammation.

Chronic inflammation is at the root of all the diseases I mentioned above, and most others. So, it makes sense that someone with chronic inflammation might end up with rheumatoid arthritis and cancer or diabetes and heart disease.

The question is: How can you stop inflammation before any of those disease dominoes tip over? Or if you already have a cluster of chronic diseases, how do you flip some of those dominoes back up and prevent new ones from falling?

The answer is surprisingly simple…

You eat a healthy diet. More specifically, you eat a diet that’s filled with antioxidant-rich, anti-inflammatory foods — foods that rival the most potent anti-inflammatory drugs on the market. Like this inflammation-fighting fruit…

Peak D3

When you step out into the sunlight, your body begins the process of making vitamin D. But getting the ideal amount can be difficult because some of us can’t effectively absorb it. That’s just one of many reasons the vitamin D deficiency is an epidemic… MORE⟩⟩

Montmorency cherries make disease risk factors disappear

Researchers from the University of Hertfordshire just discovered that Montmorency cherries may be the best way to fight inflammation-related diseases like diabetes and heart disease.

They performed a small study on people with metabolic syndrome. In case you don’t know, people with metabolic syndrome have a cluster of health conditions like high blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess abdominal fat, and abnormal cholesterol or triglyceride levels.

People with metabolic syndrome also have chronic inflammation, and they’re more at risk for heart disease, stroke, and diabetes (surprise, surprise). In other words, they’re super close to tipping over a major disease domino. What did researchers do to prevent that from happening?

They gave them Montmorency cherries in either capsule or juice form. And it worked. It started reversing some disease risk factors, including high blood pressure and insulin resistance.

Researchers suspect it’s because Montmorency cherries are high in antioxidants that fight inflammation. In fact, researchers say these cherries have anti-inflammatory powers that rival pharmaceutical drugs.

“Currently, there is no known cure for cardiovascular disease or type 2 diabetes, and incidence rates are rising annually. Therefore, a shift in strategy to prevention is required to improve public health, “said Terun Desai, Ph.D. researcher at the University of Hertfordshire. “Montmorency tart cherry juice may be an intervention which can slow the development of such diseases and potentially prevent them.”

Make Montmorency cherries part of your daily routine

Previous research at Northumbria University in England shows that Montmorency tart cherry juice can lower the body’s levels of uric acid which is linked to gouty arthritis.

So, sip on some Montmorency cherry juice sooner rather than later if you want to prevent the disease domino effect from ruining your life. You’ll find it at most health food stores. Just make sure it’s 100 percent Montmorency cherry juice and not mixed with apple juice, grape juice or other fillers.

You can also take Montmorency cherry supplements if the juice isn’t your thing. Either way, you’ll notice a bonus benefit if you stick to it: better sleep.

Montmorency cherries also contain the sleep hormone melatonin. So, if you consume them regularly, you’ll not only stay disease-free, you’ll sleep as soundly as your dog does after a trip to the dog park.

Editor’s note: Are you feeling unusually tired? You may think this is normal aging, but the problem could be your master hormone. When it’s not working, your risk of age-related diseases skyrockets.
